Most homeowners don’t spend much time thinking about their crawlspace until something feels off.
If you’ve noticed any of these, it’s worth taking a look:
Rodents in your crawlspace
Hearing scratching, movement, or activity under your home? Small gaps can let rodents in, and once they’re there, they don’t leave on their own.
Cold floors in your home
If your floors feel colder than they should, your crawlspace insulation may be damaged, missing, or not doing its job.
Moisture or standing water
Water under your home can lead to bigger issues over time — including mold, wood damage, and foundation problems.
Musty or damp smells
A musty smell inside your home often starts in the crawlspace. Moisture and poor airflow are usually the cause

Crawlspace Transformation
This crawlspace had moisture issues, exposed soil, and signs of rodent activity. We installed a full “rat slab” system to eliminate nesting conditions and protect the home long-term. The space is now clean, sealed, and far less attractive to pests.
Our Process
- Inspection: Identified moisture concerns and entry points where rodents were getting in.
- Sealing & protection: Covered the exposed soil with a sealed barrier to eliminate access to food sources and nesting areas.
- Final result: A clean, dry crawlspace with long-term protection against moisture and rodents.
- Why this matters: Without exposed soil, rodents lose their food source and nesting environment—making the crawlspace far less likely to attract or support infestations.
Common Crawlspace Terms
Not sure what some of these terms mean? Here’s a quick breakdown of things you might hear when talking about your crawlspace.
The area beneath your home that provides access to plumbing, wiring, and structural components. It’s usually unfinished and not meant for living space.
The short foundation wall that supports the structure of your home and connects it to the footing below. Cracks or moisture here can lead to bigger issues.
A plastic or reinforced layer installed on the ground to help prevent moisture from rising into the crawlspace
Material installed under your home to help regulate temperature and improve energy efficiency. Damaged or missing insulation can lead to cold floors
The process of sealing off entry points to keep mice and rats from getting into your home or crawl space. This includes closing gaps, holes, and vents, and installing barriers so rodents can’t get in to nest or cause damage.
